GET PREPARED FOR YOUR PHOTOSHOOT!
Woohoo! I am so excited to photograph you! To get the very most out of your Portrait Experience with me, I have put together a how to prepare for your Portrait Photoshoot Experience Guide for you.
WHAT WILL YOU DO WITH YOUR IMAGES?
Matching your portraits and outfits to your home. When you start planning what to wear or what type of images you would like to create, take into consideration your home and how you want to display your images. Do you want to put big frames on the wall, keep your images in a portrait box or have a beautiful album sitting on the coffee table?
If you want a beautiful set of frames to put above your couch or in your entry way or in the bedroom, think about what colour the decor in your home is and how your images might look on wall.
PLANNING YOUR OUTFITS
At your Style Consultation we will go over some options for your outfits, talk about how you might like to be photographed and what options you might like to wear from the Studio Wardrobe and what you might like to bring from home. You can do as many different outfits as you would like but I always suggest a minimum of three looks. That will give you a good variety of different images to choose from at your Reveal. It's great to include something a little more casual like a blouse and jeans or something that feels like you, as well as something glamorous and maybe even a bit out of your comfort zone!
At your Photoshoot you will have access to the Studio Wardrobe which is full of all sorts of beautiful gowns right through to some great basics like turtle neck knits and body suits.
When getting your outfits ready, don't forget to make sure your clothing items have had the crinkles ironed or steamed out and remember if you are really unsure, I recommend to roll in a suit case of options and we will help you choose what you'd like to be photographed in on the day!
DECIDING HOW YOU WANT TO BE PHOTOGRAPHED
Have a think about how do you might like to be photographed? Who would you like to be photographed with? Yourself? Your mum? Your daughter? Your sister? Your partner or best friend? Would you love a photograph of you and your grandmother or granddaughter?
In the studio we can create so many different styled images. Boudoir, Glamour, Generation Portraits, Fashion and Beauty, Mother Daughter Portraits, Couple Portraits, Maternity Portraits, Family Portraits. Have a think about what different types of images you might like to create and what you might like to use them for or who you might like to gift them to.
JEWELLERY, SHOES AND ACCESSORIES
It's a great idea to personalise your outfits with timeless jewellery. A piece of jewellery can really bring an outfit together. If you have a favourite set of earrings that suit the style of portraits you want to create make sure you bring them along. You can bring as many options as you like with you, we effectively get to play dress up on the day!
In the studio there is a big stash of flower crowns, earrings and necklaces to add to looks we create as well.
Wearing shoes isn't necessarily a must have. Most of the time we don't wear them in these portraits but if you would like to have full body shots and have a favourite pair of shoes, definitely bring them along! If you are stuck for ideas, a simple pair of black, nude or tan heels will always look amazing. Just make sure they are nice and clean with no broken bits or bubble gum stuck on the bottom.
YOU DESERVE IT
If you are someone who does get their hair dyed, it's a great idea to book in and have your regrowth touched up before your photoshoot to ensure you look exactly how you would like in your photographs. A nice trim or tidy up of your colour is another great way to ensure your hair looks it's best and you absolutely love your photographs!
Make sure your nails are looking nice and healthy for your photoshoot, if you like, go and treat yourself to new nails or just have them cleaned up a little. You definitely do not need to paint your nails or have acrylics done at all. Just ensure they are nice and clean and even for your photoshoot.
BROWS AND SKIN
Book in with your favourite beauty salon and treat your skin to a facial, just make sure you time it to allow time for any redness to disappear before your photoshoot!
Lashes are included in your professional makeup and hair at your photoshoot but if you prefer them you can opt to get eyelash extensions before your photoshoot as an option as well.
Make sure to exfoliate well and shave, pluck or wax anything that requires it, especially if you would like to have some boudoir style images included.
ON THE DAY
Don't forget you will have access to the Studio Wardrobe full of gorgeous gowns, skirts and outfits.
Even if things don't quite fit, bring them along anyway. We simply clip them or leave them open at the back, no one ever knows but us!
Make sure your face is clean and dry, with no makeup.
Make sure your hair is clean and dry and has no product in it. It's a great idea to have washed your hair the day before coming into the studio.
Ensure everything you'd like to bring along is packed, ironed and ready to bring into the studio. That you have your jewellery, shoes and any accessories you want to bring along with you.
Make sure you have your basic singlets in the right colour (black or white) and/or the correct coloured and shaped under garments for your outfits (stick-on bras, strapless etc).
If you like you can run around the studio in your slippers so totally bring them with you! There will be refreshments and snacks provided as it can get tiring being a model for a day but do remember to have breakfast! You will need it!
Don't worry if you've woken up with a pimple that morning, you will not see it in your photographs!
GET EXCITED! I'LL SEE YOU SOON!
